Welcome to the OCP 2021 Virtual Season!
We are excited to offer our first original virtual production, Pandemonium - Life in the Pandemic. Through our contacts with playwrights and their networks, we invited submissions for short plays (no more than 10-20 minutes) with the theme "Life in the Pandemic". While we received close to four hours worth of short plays, we have put together about a 110 minute production - a mix of nine funny and serious peeks into life in a pandemic world. We have been in virtual rehearsals since the beginning of February and will be filming/recording each play during the last week of the month. Then off to editing in preparation for six "live" streaming performances on March 12,13,19,20 @ 7:30pm ("doors" open at 7pm) and March 14 & 21 @ 2pm ("doors" open at 1:30pm. These are opportunities to gather across households with friends so we can participate together in our virtual theater. The production will also be available between the 14th-19th for "on your own time" viewing all of this on our YouTube channel.
This program is supported, in part, by a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission and National Endowment for the Arts.

Dear OutCast Patrons:
We made it through our 2020 - 10th Anniversary Season "that never was" and we thank you for sticking with us during this difficult time. While our scheduled season did not happen, we are glad that we were able to offer a way to stay connected with our 2020 Streaming Season of "old favorites" that we had filmed as part of our New Works Project and World Premieres. Since they were not recorded with performance in mind, we do realize that the quality was not always the best. We were happy to have some way of staying in touch with our patrons and make a little money to offset our on-going costs (rent, etc.) that needed to be met despite the theater being shut down due to the pandemic. We even reached some new audience members who were able to join us from as far away as Tel Aviv, Israel. We have learned a lot since then about playing in the digital world. In the process, we purchased equipment, created our own YouTube channel for streaming, and feel prepared to step into brand new productions while we wait to get back into the Black Box itself!
So, rather than attempting to create and announce an entire season, we are approaching 2021 one month at a time, while sticking to our usual production calendar (March, May, June, September & October) with some extras thrown in as well. This way, we hope we can easily pivot back to live theater easily when we get the OK.
In this light, we are excited to offer our first original virtual production coming in March. Through our contacts with playwrights and their networks, we invited submissions for short plays (no more than 10-20 minutes) with the theme "Life During the Pandemic". Our focus is putting together about a 90-minute production - a mix of funny and serious peeks into life in a pandemic world. Already we have received enough submissions for several shows but we will find a good balance, cast, schedule virtual rehearsals, then film/record, edit and stream several performances in March. We look forward to seeing you there!
